Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer, born 1967, studied business economics at the University of Stuttgart. From 1992-1997, Dr. Pfeiffer worked for the electricity supply company Energie Versorgung Schwaben AG (EVS), where he was involved in controlling, mergers and acquisitions and public-private partnerships. He received his Doctorate in 1997, and from 1997 until 2002 he was the head of economic and employment promotion activities for Stuttgart. Since 2003, he has been working as a freelancer consultant and since 2006, he has been giving lectures on energy policy at the Institute of Energy Economics and the Rational Use of Energy at the University of Stuttgart. He began his political career in 1990, when he was Chair of the Young Christian Democrats for the county Rems-Murr, maintaining this position until 1994. From 1992-1999, Dr. Pfeiffer was a member of the town council of Urbach and since 1994 he has been serving as a member of the regional assembly in the Stuttgart Region Association, where he chairs the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) group. Dr. Pfeiffer is also Chair of the CDU in the county Rems-Murr and in 2002, he was directly elected to German Parliament representing the CDU. From 2005-2009, he was Coordinator in Energy Issues for the CDU Parliamentary faction and deputy Economic Policy Spokesman for the CDU faction. Since 2009, Dr. Pfeiffer has been the Economic Policy Spokesman for the CDU faction and since March 2012, he has been deputy chairman of the Advisory Board of the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway. |
